1956 20' Chris-Craft Sportsman
This Sportsman is like a double-struck coin! The hull number is 3-hull numbers from the end of 1956 production, and it was obviously started in 1956. However, there are obvious changes the factory made to include much of the new 1957 design, such as blond stain details, an MCL engine, split front seat, etc., and sold as a 1957.

This one was begun at another shop. The bottom was completely re-framed with new chines, but the OLD keel was reused. We will have to effect repairs because, while they obviously were copying procedures out of Don's book, they skipped some steps. The new bottom had no barrier coat primer and ALL seams are cracked open. They had begun re-fastening the topsides but didn't even check the frame fastenings. 28 out of 32 screws in the sheer clamps (each side) were broken. Over 50% of the deckbeam fasteners were broken. What good is new plank/frame screws, when the frames themselves aren't well attached?

For some reason, the owner pulled the boat from that 'restorer' and asked Danenberg Boatworks to finish it correctly. The owner is so happy with correct work, and the prices, that the owner wants to bring his 1941, 19' Chris-Craft Barrelback for a total restoration next.
